Wildflower Walks
The Wildflower Walk collection captures a moment in botanical time and space.
These are carefully crafted collections of plants I collect on my wildflower walks. On a meander down one of the Southwest’s many hiking trails whether mountain or desert, I encounter different flower friends in June than will appear a month later in July, or again in August and September. The community of wildflowers changes through the bloom season reminding me of their ephemeral beauty and presence. This fleeting presence reminds me to cherish their appearance and nurture their return next season. These moments, and therefore this collection, stir up feelings of longing and nostalgia, reflecting on the beauty of a time and place in the past that will never be again, and also feelings of hope and happiness, anticipating their return to new world next season.
Wildflower Walks include 3-10 varieties of plants mounted on deckled-edge watercolor paper handmade by artisans in India. A calligraphy label indicates the month and place of collection. Plants are labeled with common and scientific names. These are then top-matted on acid-free, fade-resistant art paper in a variety of colors. The frames in this collection are whitewash and silver-lined.
Available in 11×14 size only. Includes wall hanging hardware.
Available as framed pieces only. Not available as single sheets for DIY framing as in our other collections.
These works are made with the original pressed-plants from my walk, they are not prints.
As always, the plants were collected responsibly, sustainably, and honoring nature in the process. See my blog post for more information on my ethics on wildflower collection.
